1. My high school and undergrad academic achievements. I was third in my class in High School and managed to graduate Magna Cum Lade with a mathematics degree. Seriously a ton of work for both, but I held in there and did it. ^.^
2. Going to steal one from Elf. Finding a voice/learning to speak out in groups. When I was in school (until Otakon) I was constantly sitting in the background. Adults where the only ones I really felt comfortable around except for a few peers. (Multiple friend betrayals contributed to this.) In my senior year I basically told off a very popular girl who wasn't following the expectations for attendance for band. And everyone else in the section cheered me on for it. :) (She also threatened to jump me after school. Apparently she didn't think about the fact I went home with my dad, who worked at the school.)

1. People making a spelling or reading mistake and saying "oh, I must have dyslexia." Guys, Dyslexia is a real disability that does more than 'make you see letters backwards' (..which it doesn't actually do at all). Please treat it with respect, like any other disability.
2. Ineffective execution: I hate it when people come up with an idea and don't really plan out how they're going to do it. For example, self checkout lines that take over for traditional check out lines...but aren't actually activated for a few months, thus putting more strain on the regular checkout lines. Or Windows, sending out a crapy operating system every so many years then putting out the good one a few years later. (One of the things I liked about Apple - at least under Jobs - was that the stuff was going to WORK when they got it out on the market.)
3. People who demand warnings for (or worse, filters for) anything with same-sex couples. I'm not talking about graphic sex. I'm talking about people who think that a kiss needs warnings just because its between two guys or two girls. (Or, even worse, is okay with one of those because it's 'hot' but not the other because that's gross.)

1. Do not ask me 'what are the odds' of something happen. I will start breaking down conditions and thinking about it. While I don't have enough probability knowledge to actually calculate it, I can usually point out things to make it more likely.
2. I will listen to new songs I like over and over again. (This drives
musicshoes crazy.) As a side note, almost all of my new music comes from AMVs via Itunes.
3. I tend to write fic of fic at lot. Most of it will never get published, but I enjoy mentally crossing fic universes, or writing happier endings to existing stories.
4. I save a lot of gorgeous fanart but don't actually look at it that much. I have plans to maybe make it a slideshow screensaver when I move out.

1. Puella Magi Madoka Magica (anime): This series is amazing. It takes the magical girl genre into a dark, bitter place, but at the same time, really allows for hope in the end. Also, the music is absolutely beautiful.
2. Princess Tutu (anime. NOT THE MANGA.): Like Madoka, Princess Tutu is very serious at points, but has a lovely cast of characters and good messages. The music is wonderful since they mostly stole things from the great ballets. XD
3. Slayers (Anime): Slayers is comedy and action at (IMHO) its finest. Lots of silliness, good character relationships and pretty good animation, especially in the NEXT season.
4. The Walker Papers (Book Series): Very Dresden Files like, but moves a bit faster, (especially compared to the beginning books of the Dresden Files).
5. Numb3rs (TV Show): Similar to CSI, except with math. It isn't 100% solid (carrying over character development, especially romance is an issue, and they lost actors some years) but it's still a lot of fun.

...only six?
1. Meeting
kiraya. <3
2. Praying for two years for a baby sister. As much as she sometimes drives me crazy,
musicshoes will always be my little miracle.
3. Went to Otakon for the first time: Otakon was the first time I really felt like it was okay to like anime, it was okay to be a geek, it was okay to just love stories and hand out and be insane. I've never been a 'normal' kid and always had trouble fitting in. Being in a mass of people that big who more or less shared my passion was amazing and wonderful for my self esteem. It literally changed my life. Also, I wrote my college essay on it. (For real.)
4. Getting a livejournal so I could write for
houseofsmex. So much joy (and some pain, but over all more joy) has come from it. <3
5. Starting to post my fiction.
6. Taking the job I did. I really love working with the people in my building and in my district. <3

1. Freedom of speech for teachers: There was this really good article about how teacher's basically have to watch everything they say, and especially what they show on the internet. Case in point: A teacher (over 21) posted a facebook picture of herself in a bar on her trip to Germany, BEHIND PRIVACY SETTINGS - but ended up losing her job for being a 'negative influence' or something like that. It's in court now, but it's still something to think about.
2. Some people are really freaking ungrateful. You offer them hours of work on your part and they go "there are lots of typos in this". FINE then. DO IT YOURSELF. /rant.
3. Happy endings and victories: I like strong characters who have already gone through their growth period and are now kick-ass. This is probably why Return of the Jedi is my favorite Star Wars movie. I like that moment when everything goes RIGHT.
...this sometimes makes it difficult to write fic.
4. It is (almost?) impossible to feel like a real adult when you're living in your parent's house.
5. The "road less traveled" clique. We need a lot of people traveling the regular roads or else the world would fall apart, guys. Sometimes doing something that isn't extraordinary is important. It's the little things that keep life going.
6. I always have things to say but if I don't write them down when I think of them I forget them. This post is a good case in point.
7. Sugar is evil in some ways. I'm fine if I don't eat it for a while - no cravings at all - but once I start it's really hard to stop. :/

1. The ability to sit down and get something done. This is something I have - well, I've learned how to do - but it drives me crazy when people CAN'T do it.
2. Organization. Portions of my life are always a disaster. >.<
3. People who can honestly can recognize negative situations, but deal with them with postive energy, kindness and supportive behavoir. I'm thinking in particular of a new report they had about the type of character that Tim Tebow has here who, even when losing, is just a nice, positive guy apparently.
4. The ability to laugh at once self and not always take things seriously.
5. Self Confidence (but like Shiro said, to a reasonable level). I'm so rarely sure of myself that I envy that in other people...
6. The abliity to let things go. Forgiveness is one of the hardest things in this world.
7. The willingingness to improve oneself. It's so easy to get stuck into a rut. Continually stretching yourself if difficult and brings a lot of hardship.
8. The ability to stand up for your convictions and not back down. This is honestly something that terrified me, but I wish I could do.

Name me a character in one of my fandoms, and I will tell you:
* How I feel about this character
* All the people I ship romantically with this character
* My non-romantic OTP for this character
* My unpopular opinion about this character
* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
* Something about them I consider true, though it's just head canon/fanon
Applicable fandoms: Fullmetal Alchemist, Madoka, FFVII, Babylon 5, Kingdom Hearts, Slayers, Card Captor Sakura, Clamp Campus Detectives, X(/1999), Tokyo Babylon, Princess Tutu, Code Geass, Harry Potter, and the Dresden series. :3 Or you know, something else you want to ask, though can't guarantee I'll have stuff worked out for them in my head yet...

Well, it's been a while, hasn't it?
Jun. 8th, 2009 09:01 pmShould do an update, shouldn't I?
Well, school is winding down! 11 more wake-ups! The kids are currently doing projects at the moment, so I don't have a lot during class, which is a nice break - if actually kind of boring because I don't know how to take off. I still have to keep my one class busy though for a while - or Thursday.
On the homefront, things are nuts again. We got through
musicshoes's crazy musicness, and now Mom is teaching a class at night. *sigh* To top it off, the great-aunt of mine who went in for surgery for a broken hipbone got out of physical therapy - and had a stroke about three weeks later. This is terminal, so we're on Wake-watch. This is also a GOOD thing, because she has basically blind, deaf and couldn't move to the point of wearing diapers. If I was her, I wouldn't want to be in the living world either.
Fandom wise, I actually got a good page and a half typed on chapter...41? 40? Something like that. (Our draft chapters are numbered different than posted chapters due to the Chapter Of Doom that split into like, two and a half chapters.)
kiraya has been proofing lately and promised me another (first time through) proofed chapter by the time I get out of school. Yay! We both want to punt out a lot of the chapter this summer. We both don't want BE to be one of those unfinished epics (though on another note, I'm glad people DON'T take those down. It makes me so sad when stories suddenly vanish and I can't find them ANYWHERE anymore! T.T), though we both admit that the fandom doesn't hold us like it used to. We also changed some things For The Future that make more sense....we think.
Anime watching: Watched Tenchi Ryo-ohki.....ick. TRC movie not much better. XXXholic was actually amusing with awesome Yuuko. Was exposed to Blood+ and Air Gear. The later has way too many "main boy gets looks at girls from iiiiiiiiiiinteresting angles" to ever hold my attention. Blood+......meh. Maybe I'll watch some more some day. In between Netflix deliveries Claire and I are watching Kenshin again. <3
First time in a while - MEME!

Feb. 3rd, 2007 09:38 pmOn the "how the heck do you spell Shinra/ShinRa whatever" front, there's a sign in the building that says "Shin-Ra".
Question is do we go back and switch it all in a fit of obsessive compulsiveness.
Note to self: type up "Strife follow Shin-Ra" AU bunny prologue so do not forget it soon. Kir, remind me to tell you about this. Is interesting idea.
And on the sheep front!
How did you first hear of/meet me?
Where and when did you first hear of my name/see my work/'meet' me? With what people/series/groups etc. do you associate me and my writing? This is not a praise or feedback meme, this is just to track the path of my online presence and to see the connections involved, to find out how people link together.
And as the wonderful Cyro pointed out, this is especially for the lurkers! We want to know!

2 -- I will tell you which of *YOUR* icons I like the most.
3 -- Then post this to your own journal using YOUR favorite icon. (Well, I have a lot that I like but this one is up there)
4 -- That's it!
Only I'm lazy, so I'll probably be giving you links to your image as oppose to actually coding it correctly.
Note to self: Tell awesome story about Dad's school later.
