Seriously, I always thought the first one was supposed to be funny, and the second to be said near-tears, in a near hysterical way. In such contexts I don't see anything wrong with those sentences.

Or we're both influenced by the fact that you don't relate to Tifa, and I do.

The second one I can see. The first? No way in hell. Ever try and say something serious and have someone respond like that? Not even YUFFIE pulled that, for Gaia's sake.

I was actually liking Tifa last night. Then we started playing again. Aiiiiiiiiieeeeeee.

To me, it all depends on the tone of voice she's using. The wrong tone can make it all sound full of wrong. Still, all she did was stick her foot in her mouth. I've done worse. Like this:

A cousin from far away had her mother murdered by this man she was seeing (the mother). She spent a week at our house to chill and stay away from all the drama. Now, she was a huge Guns n' Roses fan (she's recently turned into a religious nut, which was like one of the signs of apocalypse for the family). We were listening to radio and a GnR song came up and she said "I don't know this song! I wish I were any good at english so I knew what they were saying" and I went "Oh, I know this song! It's really funny, here, let me translate..."

Tone of voice does do a lot, but I personally find that type of response disheartening. *shrugs* I've had similar things happen, but not so serious and wanted to kick the person.

And this is a large part of the reason I'm mostly a genficcer for FF7. Any pairing after that, even putting aside Nibelheim childhood issues, is just... way too freaking improbable. ^.^;;; Ah well. At least Cloud doesn't let her get him too down.

The first is after Cloud goes through this whole "I was deceiving myself but I'm going to fix it!" speech while the second is when he finally comes back to himself in the lifestream.
