To me, it all depends on the tone of voice she's using. The wrong tone can make it all sound full of wrong. Still, all she did was stick her foot in her mouth. I've done worse. Like this:
A cousin from far away had her mother murdered by this man she was seeing (the mother). She spent a week at our house to chill and stay away from all the drama. Now, she was a huge Guns n' Roses fan (she's recently turned into a religious nut, which was like one of the signs of apocalypse for the family). We were listening to radio and a GnR song came up and she said "I don't know this song! I wish I were any good at english so I knew what they were saying" and I went "Oh, I know this song! It's really funny, here, let me translate..."
