HoS: Familiar Surroundings
Mar. 6th, 2005 10:44 pmThey were old friends for Masuta. When they vanished he felt terribly lost.
Familiar Surroundings
Masuta had studied quite a few subjects when he was younger. Not the least amongst these was astrology. When he left his home country and traveled to England, the stars remained a comforting friend. While slightly different, they remained a constant for him.
When he first stepped over into this world, Masuta felt terribly alone. Even his lover’s presence wasn’t enough to reassure him. So as was his habit, Masuta wandered out into the yard and settled down on the grass, ready for some star meditation.
Only to receive the shock of his life.
The stars were ALL different. Not a single constellation remained within sight. The last link to his home was gone. In that moment Masuta felt more alone than he had since his parents had died.
The next day Masuta had followed Edward to the library and borrowed several books about the starts. The blond had looked at the books slightly surprised and then smiled sadly. He nodded and let the subject drop.
Masuta had spent a good portion of their time traveling studying the new patterns in the heavens. After they returned to Central permanently, Masuta quickly found himself lacking time to continue the habit. Getting involved with three, then four, other people sapped the peace and quiet that had marked the periods of his stargazing.
He had forgotten all about it till over a year since Al finally joined them. They’d been lying together in their huge bed. From the sound of things everyone else was asleep. His eyes wandered over to the window to the twinkling points of light.
“Still strange Ichiro?”
The Japanese man jumped at the voice. Edward smiled at him from his place on the opposite side of the bed. “No, I think they’re familiar actually.”
“Good,” Edward replied. He snuggled back down into the covers. Masuta did the same, listening to the sounds of his family fill the silence of his home.
