YAY! PHYSICS IS OVER! *dances* I think it went pretty well too.
And now, for a little celebration.
This is a story thread entry. Basically, one person starts the story, the next person takes a turn in comments, then the next, the next, ect.
Just about everything is encouraged, especially crack. ^_^ If for some reason, though I doubt it, something becomes non-worksafe in the comments, just type NOT WORK SAFE in the subject, okay? Don't want to get anyone in trouble. Assume spoilers for all of FMA. And no timeline.
It’s okay if the story diverges in multiple places too. The point of this is to have fun.
Edward Elric opened his eyes to see a bright blue sky over head. Not a single cloud marred the scene. He stood slowly, feeling strangely unbalanced on his automail and flesh legs. The blond glanced around. He didn't recognize where he was. And Al-
Al was missing.
Momentary panic set in. Edward forced himself to take a deep breath and think. First things first. Find out where he was. He moved off towards a building in the distance.

As he advanced towards the building, he further examined his surroundings for any landmark that would even give him a vague idea of his location. Nothing stood out, and aside from the building in the distance, there was very little to see. Yellowed, wispy grass grew from flat and brittle ground on each side of the pockmarked road down which he currently walked. The disparity between the perfect sky and wasted ground intrigued him and he idly began to wonder what may have caused it.
Edward was startled out of his thoughts a bit later by a slight pulling on his right arm. He wrenched it forward and turned to look at the disturbance, finding an emaciated man who looked on the verge of death. Their eyes met and the man paled, soon falling to the ground in undisguised fear.
"I-I know you!?" he cried out, both an exclamation of fact and a question of doubt.
"I don't even know where I am. There's no way you can know me."
"But I do. It's in the Book. 'The man with metal limbs.' You caused this," he sobbed, sweeping his hands in an inclusive gesture before being reduced to coughing. "You're the one responsible for the Cataclysm!"

There we go. Hopefully you don't mind my contribution. I'm out!

Date: 2005-07-13 04:17 am (UTC)"Is this some kind of sick joke? Giving people a scare by putting metal on your arm and leg to evoke memories of the Cataclysm?"
"Wha-?"
"Surprised, are you? My husband may not fully remember the book, but I do. The illustration accompanying the phrase about the 'man with the metal limbs' bears no resemblance to you." she held out a tattered scrap of paper. Edward took it and held it for a few seconds before letting it flutter to the ground.
"That can't be!"
Ed couldn't for a moment believe that the paper accurately depicted the person responsible for the wasteland the world had become. Al could never do such a thing...unless he was trying to bring Edward himself back. Ed certainly didn't know how he had arrived here, so Al could have found himself in such a situation. Finding Al would be more important than ever now.
"It is. I'd suggest you come with us if you don't want to fall victim to the chimeras. Gunfire attracts them." she gave a small smile, a pale ghost of the woman he remembered. "And I'd be very interested to learn how you've survived in the Waste for so long without protection."
Edward nodded and numbly followed the three back to the odd building.
