“The last one was pretty tough.”

“Yeah.”

“You know, sometimes I wonder if everyone gets as many assignments as we do running into It.”

“Who knows? We’re all fighting It in one way or another.”

“I suppose.”

“I was scared.”

“So was I. If the others hadn’t helped….”

“But it’s alright. Everything worked out alright. And that idea was pure genius.”

“You figured out how to make it work.”

“I guess. We make a great team, don’t we?”

“Yup.”

Nita Callahan stood. Her partner, Kit Rodriguez followed a minute later. “Time to go. The air’s escaping.”

“Right.” The pair spoke the single word in the Speech that would return them home. Let the Lone Power try its worst. They would be ready.
