Love of Books
Inspired by this picture
Ever since Edward had begun to walk, Hohenheim found it very difficult to read. Within moments of sitting down, Edward would crawl up on his lap and sit on the book. Hohenheim loved his son, he really did, but it made doing research very difficult.
The alchemist sighed as his son fell asleep on top of his book. He sifted the child off of the book and opened it up. Edward smiled in his sleep and curled closer to his father.
After about an hour Hohenheim stood, carefully holding Ed against him. He moved over to the bookshelf and removed another book. He flipped it open, trying to remember exactly where the passage was. Edward’s eyes snapped open. His small hands reached for the pages.
“Oh? You like books, do you?” Hohenheim smiled. He replaced the book and took out a new one, one of the basic alchemy texts. He sat down again with his son and began to read aloud.
Never too early to start after all.
When the Journey is Over

The two red cloaked figures were difficult to pick apart at this distance. It felt like old times, watching the pair next to the tree that had been besides their house. Soon they would come running over, wanting to play. Or she would dash over there. She was even in a dress, something she had rarely done since going into the automail business, but had often done as a child.
A part of Winry urged her to run to the pair’s side, wanting desperately to see Ed again. This moment, however, belonged to the brothers and no one else.
They would come back, as they always did. And she would be waiting to welcome them home.
As always.
