HoS: Superstitious
Feb. 20th, 2005 09:56 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Set after "First Day of Spring" dealing with the tradition that I-thought-I-made-up-but-didn't-really (which still freaks me out)
Superstitious
Riza had fallen asleep on the couch again.
Roy shook his head and carefully shifted the pregnant woman into a more comfortable position. The males of the house unanimously decided to leave the room so they could continue their discussion without waking her.
As they walked into the library, Roy felt his eyes fall on a dried garland lovingly mounted on the wall. It had been well over three months since the Elric brothers had presented it to Riza. The Flame Alchemist spoke his next words without thought. “I never though of you as the superstitious kind.”
Ed frowned at the comment. It took him a few minutes to figure out what Roy meant. “Oh.”
“He’s right,” Masuta observed. He had long ago noted Ed’s tendency to ignore traditions. At first he had thought the older Elric simply hadn’t been aware of them in his old world, but Ed had done it several times here as well. And the alchemist was a self proclaimed atheist.
“Father didn’t believe in it either at first,” Alphonse looked wishful.
Masuta raised an eyebrow. “He didn’t give one to your mother?”
“Oh he did,” Al smiled remembering. “Mother used to show them to us. They were some of her favorite possessions.”
“Then-”
“We could’ve had an older sister you know.” Three dark eyes turned in shock to Ed. “Adora Elric.”
Al looked solemn. “Mother miscarried. After that…”
“It might be silly,” Ed stared at the garland, “but it’s worth a little work for peace of mind.”
“I’m sorry,” Roy apologized.
“Not your fault. Sometimes I wonder-” What if things had been different? What if Adora had survived? What if they hadn’t been alone when their mother died? Ed shook his head. “Never mind. It’s not important. Now, what were you saying about the spy network?”
Note: Adora is Latin, meaning Beloved One. Trisha is also Latin, meaning of noble descent.
Hm, thats the end of stuff I had written for HoS on the file. Will have to go write more

Date: 2005-02-20 10:14 pm (UTC)Do you mind doing Looking Glass / canon A!S drabbles? because it occurs to me that one of those could definitely be written in such a way as to make it canon-tastic.

Date: 2005-02-20 10:25 pm (UTC)Um, setting/topic? Take your choice:
Pre-HOS when Roy strongly suspected Ed was dead.
Ishbal-war, but not Rockbell.
Something about Ed.
Um, it's canon now in A!S that Roy knows Masuta died. Do something with that?
Surprise me! :)

Date: 2005-02-20 10:46 pm (UTC)If you do the story type count thing, I'll keep track of (and using the same categories) which type of stories get the most 1st gen comments.
We can see what most people like to read and what most people like to write then.
