This one is all [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s fault. It kept me up till midnight then had me twitching all day. That happens when I get a really good idea. Its also why I need a tablet. Then I could write in class and they'd think I was taking notes. Or a laptop but a tablet's lighter.

Turning Point

This wasn’t going to work.

Ed sighed as he leafed through another booklet. He really had tried to break off his relationship with Roy, but his feelings went far deeper than he liked to admit. When he was completely honest with himself, he could admit he would have gladly spent the rest of his life as Roy’s lover.

But a three year gap had made that future impossible. Both had moved on to other people. Ed wouldn’t cheat on Ichiro and Roy had ended up with Riza Hawkeye. Not that Fullmetal blamed Flame. His first crush after all had been on Hawkeye years ago, at the age of fourteen. The First Lieutenant was still a beautiful woman after all.

Edward paused, an idea materializing in his mind. It would take a little bit of work of course, but he hadn’t served for years under Mustang, manipulator and schemer extraordinaire for nothing….

Noting the silence Masuta leaned over his lover. “Did you find something?”

Golden eyes blinked at him. Ed flushed and glanced down at the booklet in his hands. “No, just though of something.” He replaced the book on apartments currently for sale and picked up one on rather large houses instead.

Since Ed had returned to service with the State Alchemists (who had NOT asked him to retake the exam) he would need some place to stay in Central. The dorms reminded him far too much of his brother so he had decided on an apartment. Or more accurately, an apartment for him and Masuta as the Japanese man had basically turned into his shadow until Ed could find a way to return him home. He probably wouldn’t be doing as much field work anymore either. The head of the State Alchemists had expressed interest in his research abilities.

Returning to Central, Ed reflected, was certainly part of the problem. When he’d been traveling with Masuta he didn’t have to interact with Roy on a regular basis. Now it was very difficult especially since he’d been assigned to Mustang’s staff again. Some people apparently believed the Flame Alchemist was the only one who could control him. But things were strained between them and people were going to start noticing. In particular, Masuta would notice. The man had his alter’s observation skills and would quickly put two and two together.

“I don’t believe we’ll need that much space Edward.”

“Oh yes we will.”

It was amusing that the two had different ideas of exactly who ‘we’ contained.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first part in Edward’s plan was to explain things to Masuta. If he wasn’t willing to go along with this Ed would drop it though he hoped he wouldn’t have to.

“I see.” Masuta fell silent as Ed watched him. “…Is that the only reason why-”

“NO!” Ed shouted. “I’m with you because of you, not because of who you look like.”

“But you wish to end our relationship and return to him.”

“NO!” Damn it, this wasn’t how he wanted things to go at all. “Roy’s made a commitment to Hawkeye. And I’m not leaving you.”

Masuta relaxed slightly. “You do miss him however.”

“Yes,” Ed admitted. “But I thought of something that might work for everyone.”

Masuta listened as his lover outlined his plan. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was late Friday afternoon when Ed put phase one of his plan into action.

Mustang had requested a report on Edward’s current research. So Ed had gleefully prepped his report along with his other tools. The young man sauntered in waving at Havoc, nodding at Hawkeye then entered Mustang’s office. He flopped down on the couch and slid his coat off revealing his sleeveless tank top.

Mustang smirked. “Fullmetal.”

Ah ha. Clearly Roy was going to stick to the formal titles. Too bad Ed wasn’t going to let him. “Want something to drink?” He pulled a bottle out of the bag at his side.

Mustang frowned. “Not while I’m on duty.”

“Suit yourself,” Ed shrugged. He stood and placed the bottle along with a glass on Mustang’s desk then returned to his seat pulling out another bottle as he did.

“About your research,” Mustang began clearly trying to take control of the situation after Ed’s curveball.

Ed hid a grin and launched into his explanations. As expected, Mustang quickly began to contradict him. Of course Ed had chosen to investigate the Percavelli’s theories. They were the principles that most air alchemy was based upon. Taking hits at the founder of a person’s school of alchemy always got them riled up.

A good two hours later found them still arguing though Roy had moved to the seat across from Ed and had consumed most of his bottle. Finally the man leaned over and sealed Ed’s argument with a kiss.

SCORE!

Ed leaned into the kiss, deepening it while entwining his gloved hands in Roy’s hair. When they broke for air the man’s dark eyes were burning with a hunger Ed hadn’t seen for a long time. The blond mentally smirked to himself. Everything was going to plan. He could talk to Roy for hours on end and the man would disagree almost purely on principle.

So Ed had decided that he would have to first lower the man’s inhibitions. The alcohol was of a far higher proof than the bottle said. Formed by Edward’s own alchemical skill, the small bottle held enough to loosen up even a man of Mustang’s willpower. His on the other hand had very little. He needed to be able to think clearly for this to work.

Ed stood gently pulling Roy up with him. The man swayed slightly but grinned. The look went straight to Ed’s heart. He had missed that smile. Together they left the office hands entwined.

More through Edward’s careful manipulation than by Roy’s choice they ended back up at the small hotel room Ed and Masuta shared. By now Roy was having a rather difficult time just standing. Ed sat him on the bed. Roy blinked and turned toward the figure that sat beside him. He leaned over and captured the other’s lips reaching to up to remove the tank top. Instead his fingers encountered a turtle neck. And, a part of his mind gleefully decided to point out, that was too tall to be Edward.

Roy pulled back and forced his eyes open. They barely managed to make out the figure sitting besides him. It was like looking into a strange funhouse mirror. That wasn’t Edward; that was Masuta!

The bed shifted to his right. Roy snapped his head around. Ed captured his mouth again before he could protest. Long familiar with the task, two hands quickly removed the heavy over jacket of the uniform to reveal the dress shirt beneath. Masuta attacked Roy’s neck as Ed quickly unbuttoned Roy’s shirt.

Distantly Roy could remember something. There was some reason why he shouldn’t be doing this. But between the alcohol, three burning flesh hands, one of icy metal and searing mouths it was cast away. The three fell back onto the bed in a tangled heap.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roy awoke with a strange taste in his mouth and a pounding headache. He stretched slowly and encountered another body. Another MALE body.

The memories from last night came crashing back to him. Roy silently cursed. How could he have done that? He quickly attempted to sit up. He had to get back to Riza and explain.

Attempted being the key word. Roy felt strong arms encircle him. “Relax. Edward is going to take care of it.” Masuta looked at his opposite. He would be lying to say the man didn’t entrance him. Since Edward had approached him about the idea he’d become almost obsessed with wondering about what making love with Roy Mustang was like. Would Mustang react the same way he did?

After last night he could certainly see why Ed didn’t want to leave a relationship with him, even without the emotional attachments. Though in many ways it had been painful to watch Edward and Roy interact. Sometimes the looks that they exchanged had felt Masuta feel terribly alone. There was an intimacy to it that spanned the years of their separation.

The Japanese man wondered if Roy felt the same way watching him and Edward.

Roy blinked. That’s right; it hadn’t just been Ed last night but Masuta as well. The guilt grew exponentially. How could he ever face Riza now? “Time for a shower,” Masuta commanded. “The hot water will make you feel better.”

While it might help his sore muscles, Roy doubted it would help his torn heart.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Riza finally got up and got dressed. She had spent the entire night staring at the ceiling waiting in vain for Roy to come home. He was probably never going to come home.

When Edward had returned several months ago Riza had noticed something shift in Roy. Watching the two of them it wasn’t hard to discover they had been lovers before (though she was still trying to figure out how they managed to hide that from her). Clearly they still cared for one another. Riza had watched to pair covertly, muscles tense with fear that any second they would resume their relationship.

So when Roy hadn’t returned last night the blonde had made a quick call to a friend with night duty. She assured Riza that the Flame and Fullmetal Alchemists had gotten out alright.

Together.

Riza’s world had shattered. She had devoted her entire life to Roy and now everything was being torn away by a source of competition she had never even suspected. A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts and ignited her rage. If Roy thought he was going to get away with a reappearance act after last night…

She flung the door open ready to yell only to be confronted with a completely unexpected face. “Edward?”

“Can I come in? I brought tea,” the blond held up a bag, “and pastries.” Riza stepped aside to let the young man in. They sat down at Hawkeye’s kitchen. “We need to discuss Roy.”

“There’s nothing to discuss,” Riza replied icily. “He went back to you. Obviously I was a temporary distraction.”

“Hardly. He wouldn’t have even considered looking at me if I hadn’t gotten him drunk first,” Ed countered sipping his tea. “You know how Roy is. You have to hit him over the head before he’s willing to listen to anything.” Riza nodded in agreement. “However, I think I might have an idea that would make us both happy…”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roy cradled his coffee mug and quickly swallowed the two pain pills. The next time he got his hands on Edward he was going to kill the blond. Whatever Fullmetal had given him last night had been incredibly strong. A knock on the door broke his silent meditation on his coffee. Since Masuta was still in the shower, Roy moved over and pulled it open.

A blonde headed figure stared back, with brown eyes instead of the expected golden ones. “Riza…”

“Hello Roy.”

He winced. He knew that tone of voice.

Riza took a step forward forcing him back. Ed stepped in behind her and closed the door. Distantly Roy heard the shower shut off. Silence stretched between the three people in the room. Masuta came through the door and caught Ed’s eyes. The blond shook his head.

“Riza I…”

“Slept with Ed.”

More silence. Ed sighed. “You two aren’t helping the situation any…”

Roy glared at the younger man. “You CREATED the situation.”

Ed rolled his eyes and stepped up to Riza. He pulled her chin down and kissed her.

Riza noted distantly that Ed obviously learned how to kiss from Roy. There were certain similarities between the two yet Ed’s kiss had an energy to it that was uniquely his. Ed pulled away, far too soon as far as she was concerned, and glanced at Roy. The older man looked as if he’d been hit over the head with a two by four. “All FOUR of us?”

“Four?” Riza questioned. Ed gestured at Masuta. “You failed to mention him Ed.”

“Oops.” He didn’t look the least bit apologetic.

“Well in that case,” Riza crossed the room in five quick strides, “we certainly can’t leave you out.” Masuta flushed bright red as Riza kissed him. Ed laughed out loud.

“You can’t seriously expect this to work,” Roy frowned.

“Why not?” Ed grinned. “We won’t know if we don’t try. And,” he added fishing out a house ad had found earlier that week. “I found the perfect place for us to do it.”

One thing though. Shouldn't the threesome scene be in a hotel or something? Masuta and Ed didn't have an apartment then, did they?

They had a very small aparment...but a hotel might make more sense. Shall go change.

*hugs* Love. This. Let me spawn your offspring.

Ed is such a sneaky bastard. Love it.

And I don't blame you about that. It's always weird when someone who creats something loves your bastardiztion of things. I kept apologizing at first as well, but then I got over it.

Lets try this again shall we since what I said earlier made no sense what so ever...
I plan to post this tommorow over at the comm followed by "Welcome Home" Thursday and "A Mother's Image."
Yes, Ed is sneaky. He's been around Roy far too long.
I think its more I didn't even know she read HoS since we never see any writing from her side and most of the pics seemed like gifts for you. *shrug*
Its very weird...

Ed's always been sneaky. He did that Youswell Mine thing when he was 12. Such a clever bratty kid. :D

I love sneaky Ed. :)

Me too. I hate it when people make Ed all straight foward. Its boring and OOC. Think about all the stuff at the end of the series Ed managed to keep from Roy.

Yeah, Ed is a very very smart guy. And he knows how to manipulate people and situations to his favor. Did it several times in the series.

I think though, that he lets his anger get the better of him sometimes. Maybe that is why some people think Ed is 'straight forward'? Or maybe it's just that he doesn't bother with social niceties. Or even care about social niceties.

Although he does seem to have some problems dealing with people on a serious emotional level. Despite how well he can read and predict people (A la Youswell Mine) Hmmm...

Bunnies.
