Title: Reunion
Pairing(s): LelouchxSuzaku, Arranged Lelouch + Euphemia (Not related in this universe)
Rating: PG
Summary: Take Snapshots from the
cgkinkmemeii and add fantasy elements. Big thanks to
kiraya for giving this a whack with the beta stick and helping me fight out a bunch of stuff with this.
Suzaku flicked through the TV channels without paying attention to what was actually on. It felt distinctly odd to be back Overhill. Everything was much more noisy here. The air was more polluted too. When he had first stepped through the doorway he had nearly choked. It had taken him a few minutes just to be able to breathe property.
The TV regained his attention for a moment as the newest KMF commercial came on. Suzaku watched it intently, noting the new Conquista design. He really wanted to go down to the store and look to see what else had come out while he was gone. He was so far behind. Maybe Lelouch would take him after dinner.
Then Suzaku shook his head. First of all, Lelouch didn’t need to take him anywhere anymore. He wasn’t a child. And secondly, he was trying to convince Lelouch he was as old as he looked. Babbling on about toys, models, and video games wouldn’t help with that.
Though he had to admit he would miss it.
KMFs always made him think of his friends. He wondered how Tamaki, Rivalz, and Gino were doing. Suzaku wished he could visit them, but that wasn’t going to be possible until they worked out their cover story. He couldn’t think of a way to explain leaving as a twelve-year-old and returning looking like he was sixteen.
Suzaku tilted his head as he heard Lelouch removing plates from the cabinet. It must almost be time for dinner. He moved into the kitchen to watch. Just looking at him brought up the memory of how Lelouch’s body had felt pressed against his own as they kissed.
Suzaku considered himself lucky that Lelouch was half human. Most dragons didn’t feel sexual desire until they went into their first cycle. While he understood the necessity of sharing Lelouch with Euphemia - unpaired dragons in cycle were known for doing things like rampaging across the countryside and eating virgins until they found a mate - he still wanted to be Lelouch’s first.
Suzaku firmly shook himself out of his thoughts. “Want some help with that?”
“Sure.” Lelouch passed him the plates. Suzaku finished setting the table just as there was a knock at the door. Lelouch touched his shoulder lightly. “Stay here. I’ll get it.” He walked over and opened the door. “Genbu. There’s someone I want you to see.”
“Who?”
Lelouch moved out of the way so Genbu could see Suzaku. His eyes went wide with shock. “Hi Dad,” Suzaku finally managed. “I’m back.”
“Suzaku. How...?”
“We’ll explain over dinner,” Lelouch answered. He gestured for Genbu to take his seat. He did, still staring at his son. Suzaku took his place as well, while Lelouch brought out the meal to the table. Suzaku beamed at him when he saw that Lelouch had prepared. Becoming a phoenix had changed his appetites. Lelouch had somehow known that, and provided Suzaku with a salad heaped with fruit as well as vegetables. Around bites of food, Suzaku explained his new nature and its resurrection ability. Lelouch added a few things along the way to clarify details, but let Suzaku do most of the talking.
Genbu shook his head. “I don’t know of any phoenixes in the family. Your mother...” He paused. “Your mother had ties to a clan in Japan known for their abilities in onmyodo. It’s possible this gift comes from her.”
“What do you plan to do now, Suzaku?” Lelouch asked. “You can’t return to school like this.”
“Not yet. I’ll need to stay out of sight for a few more years, but I don’t want to spend all of my time Underhill. Schneizel had some ideas - “
“Schneizel?” Lelouch literally growled. Suzaku had to wonder if he sounded like that when he was a dragon. “When did you meet him?”
“He was visiting Cornelia, who was with Euphie,” Suzaku replied. He didn’t know why Lelouch didn’t like him. The two brothers were very similar in nature. “He pretty much guessed who had fought Guinevere - that was really nasty, by the way. She still hasn’t managed to sort her wings out, according to Cornelia - and more or less extended an invitation for you to meet with him.” Well, he had told Euphemia, figuring sooner or later she would see her bonded, when they mated if not before. Lelouch visibly brooded. Suzaku continued, “He seemed to want to...” He paused, trying to come up with the words.
“Collect me? Convince me to join him?” Lelouch’s tone was still dark. Suzaku watched his eyes in amazement. The normally vivid violet irises had developed gemlike qualities in shine and shape. Suzaku recognized it, of course. He saw it every time he looked in the mirror nowadays. Euphemia’s eyes were much the same, but he had never seen it in Lelouch’s eyes. The dragon took a deep breath, closing his eyes. When he opened them, they were fully human again. “What did he suggest?”
“Private teaching in what I’m missing in school. If I stay human most of the time, I should stay about the same age, maybe get a bit older. I can ‘reappear’ once it’s time for sophomore year.” He looked at Lelouch. “I thought you could teach me. I can go Underhill when I have to hide.”
“There’s illusions, as well. Magic is difficult to do in the human world, but not impossible.” Lelouch nodded thoughtfully. “We’ll still need a proper cover story for your disappearance.”
Schneizel had said the same thing. Something about his manner had indicated that the air dragon might actually take care of it himself, as a favor to Suzaku. He decided not to tell Lelouch that. Euphemia had explained that phoenixes were rare enough that many Underhill would want to do him favors in hope of earning one in return. Not to mention dragons’ natural pull towards his kind made him a much-wanted visitor at just about every dragon occasion.
Lelouch continued to think for a long moment, then nodded. “We might be able to make this work.” Then he chuckled. “Only for you, Suzaku, would I go back to the high school curriculum.” Suzaku met Lelouch’s gaze, a warm smile forming on his lips. Lelouch’s eyes softened as he returned the look, and Suzaku felt warmth flooding up inside of him at the sight.
Lelouch looked away quickly before the moment could linger, and they finished their meal discussing various reasons Suzaku could have gone missing. Genbu rose to his feet. “Help Lelouch with the dishes, Suzaku, then come back home. We need to get your room ready.”
“Couldn’t I stay?” Suzaku begged. “I won’t get in the way.”
Lelouch gave him a disapproving look. “You just got back, Suzaku. Go home tonight.”
Suzaku sighed, but nodded. After Genbu left, the pair tackled packing up the leftovers and washing the dishes together. “I don’t know why I can’t stay,” Suzaku grumbled. “It was never a problem before.”
“Your father missed you, Suzaku. We thought you were dead.”
“I know, but...” He wanted to stay with Lelouch. He had missed him so much - and now they were older... well, he’d had several dreams he’d like to put into practice.
Lelouch lightly kissed him on the forehead. “We’ll have all of eternity, Suzaku. Your father is mortal. Never forget that someday you’ll lose him.”
The thought shook Suzaku a bit. He had forgotten - or preferred not to remember - that his dad would die. Euphemia and Lelouch, along with all those he had met Underhill, would live until they were killed. His father, though, would someday fade as all mortals did. “...fine. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Get up early enough and we can have breakfast together,” Lelouch promised.
Suzaku smiled at the thought and left Lelouch’s apartment, entering his own next door. “Tadaima!”
“Okaeri,” Genbu replied with a smile, stepping aside to let his son in. Suzaku smiled back at him. Even with the problems explaining his reappearance and Lelouch’s issues with his own family, it was good to be home.
Random facts:
- This is the last part of this series I'm committed to. That being said, if the bunny bites (or Snapshots throws something I really want to try), I may revisit it. There are some 'potential' bunnies as a list on this document.
- This originally had Genbu Finding Out but he wasn't being upset enough about things. I didn't want it to turn into an angst fest either, so I cut it.
- Lelouch is cloaking his eyes with an illusion, constantly. That's why his aren't showing the immortal aspect - but it slips sometimes when he's ticked.
- What is going on with Lelouch's family? No. Freaking. Clue. I need more 'canon' to work on that.

Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-18 08:50 pm (UTC)Too bad it's unfinished:(
My fav part would be Seishirou and Kamui's interactions that made me grin:
a)Blake for Subaru's Birthday and the whole shopping sequence, with Sei nearly force-feeding Subaru
b)Seishirou-papa XDXDXDXD Epic, epic
c)Kamui picking up Sei's habits and manneurism. Gay novels tooXD
Kamui watching Matrix and ranting on being the chosen one was also very funny:D
Lovely fic, with surprisingly light-mood for X-verse. Of course, I wholeheartedly approve of Subaru with his eye intact and living in Sei's apartment)))
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-18 08:57 pm (UTC)I hope someday she'll write more. It's a nice alternative to angst, angst, angst all the time. Which has its place, especially in x-verse, but variety is the spice of life.
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 07:37 pm (UTC)Did the author tell you that?
too bad:(
I hope too, I loved the moodXD The only things that is missing is more Fuuma!
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 08:11 pm (UTC)Honestly, I don't care about Fuuma at all. (Who, by the way, I separate from Dark Kamui. I think its significant that the twin star refers to himself as Kamui. There's also that scene towards the end where Subaru says something to the affect of "that wasn't Kamui, it was..." )
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 08:30 pm (UTC)Yes, I remember that scene. I just continue calling him "Fuuma" for simplicity
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 08:32 pm (UTC)Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 08:35 pm (UTC)I just think that Dark Kamui has always been there, and "Fuuma" was just one of his masks that was needed at the time and the got discarded for good."Fuuma" never existed as a real person.
I'm unsure, so I'd really like to discuss it)
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 08:42 pm (UTC)You do have that scene. But I don't know exactly what it means. :/ I don't know. I think of him as an aspect of Kamui, since he repeatedly prefers to be addressed by that name. I think of Fuuma as the person who was Kamui's best friend as a kid.
TLDR: X is complicated and probably won't ever be finished. (And...honestly, I prefer it that way.)
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 08:55 pm (UTC)Also, what could Kamui's true wish be? Not to be Kamui?
What would D!Kamui wish be?
to become one with his other half, and yes, smut connotations(I just never saw him wishing much, apart from protecting Kotori and Fuuma, then bringing Fuuma back and generally disliking being "Kamui")
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 11:08 pm (UTC)I suspect, on the matter of wishes, we should look at Sei and Subaru, since in very many ways, Sei is to D!Kamui as Subaru is to Kamui. Which....implies that D!Kamui may want Kamui to kill him. Or perhaps, that might be the wish of the Fuuma who remains. I personally view D!Kamui as more of a wish granting creature, and not one with wishes of his own. (But you know, my Headcannon) And as far as Kamui...I wouldn't be surprised if deep down his wish was something like Subaru's: I wish I had died instead of Kotori, or something like that. I don't think Kamui has a very strong will to live; Yuzuriha manages to fight D!Kamui and 'win' partially because she has such a strong will to live.
I also think that part of the Seals problem is that they're constantly being defensive. Quite frankly, they needed to start being offensive. Don't just try to drive off, try to kill the angles. But that didn't happen and now look where we are.
D!Kamui's arms have to be getting tired by now....Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 11:48 pm (UTC)D!Kamui's Wish is important and he says that only KAmui can grant it. He also says (it might or might not be a joke) to Suabru when passing him Sei's eye that he, D!Kamui, plans to do the same to Kamui.
So, D!Kamui wants Kmaui to kill him and take his place.
Kamui wants to bring back Fuuma and would let D!Kamui kill him, believing that it would help.
Whomever kills whom doesn't matter and doesn't bring back Fuuma - the survivor would be the only "Kamui" and his side would win.
However, what side would that be?
Scenario 1: D!Kamui kills Kamui and becomes just "Kamui". Dragons of Earth win, because he is still on their side. Or nor?
Scenario 2: Kamui kills D!Kamui. He takes his place, meaning that DRAGONS OF EARTH WIN AGAIN?
Scenario 3: the make love and run away to the woods. :P Just kidding
The point is that killing isn't THE solution here. There must be another, more legant way to resolve it.
sex, sex and sexRe: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 11:53 pm (UTC)I would agree that D!Kamui and/or Fuuma, possibly wants Kamui to kill him. I don't know about the taking his place part, however. (Like I said, I need to reread...wonder what it says in the original. Will have to as
Considering the Holic and TRC endings, I'm not betting on much of a solid 'resolution' for the series. :/ Personal headcanon says the two halves of Kamui will remerge (like in Sakura and Snow) though whether or not Fuuma's around afterwards is debatable.
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-20 12:09 am (UTC)Because Subaru accepts Sei's eye and inherits his place, and D!Kamui says that he plans to do the same, being horribly vague if "same" meant eye transaction, killing or inheritance.
Argh, yes, better an open ending than a dissapointing one.
I do also believe that two Kamui's will have to become one "Kamui" somehow.
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-20 12:12 am (UTC)I sort of don't want them to end X because I'm afraid of how they'll do it.
And I'm off to bed - talk to you soon!

Date: 2011-05-22 11:51 am (UTC)EuphieKotori andSuzakuLelouch by having my best friend kill me" vibes.Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 08:54 pm (UTC)I also think it's significant that Hinoto sees double Kamuis in her vision, rather than Kamui and Fuuma. But you're free to believe whatever you like - there's a lot unexplained in X.
Re: Seishirou-papa
Date: 2011-05-19 09:02 pm (UTC)I like D!Kamui. A lot.
Just butting in here
Date: 2011-05-22 01:41 am (UTC)I'm still undecided on whether or not Kamui's Choice killed off Fuuma for good, though.Argh, I forgot that the end of volume 18 and the few chapters released after that hint very strongly that he HASN'T been.OMG, the Britannian family in Snapshots is. Um.
Date: 2011-05-18 01:44 am (UTC)(Euphie will show up in 4-5 months and Schneizel in 6-7, but given how reluctant I am to part Lelouch and Suzaku, June and July might last FOREVER)
I loved (especially reading back) how everyone dealt with Suzaku being back - less shocked and more gradually accepting with emphasis on what next. It's just so adorably practical!
And Lelouch - still with the forehead kisses and the borderline platonic affection and... Suzaku's gonna wrap him around his little finger. XD
I am curious as to what might induce you to write more. I am quick with the bribes. XD XD XD
Insanely powerful?
Date: 2011-05-18 08:43 pm (UTC)Here, I will help you. *knocks Lelouch out, puts him on train, and Fedex's his stuff.
Genbu is actually freaking out a lot, he just isn't showing it. His reaction is one of the things on the 'maybe' list, along with Gino-put-down, reunion with his friends and other stuff.
Well, Suzaku was originally trying to get into bed with him (I don't have anything to wear, Lelouch~) but I like this version better. And yes, Lelouch is totally wrapped around Suzaku's finger.
Right now I really need to work on Femlouch verse. But I might come back to this because they're fun, short and easy. ^^
Well. The first part is accurate.
Date: 2011-05-20 11:02 pm (UTC)Schneizel is 29 and full partner in a law firm. Cornelia is a Major in the Marines, Odesseus is boring, Guinevere is a socialite, Euphie is in high school and chairs a LOT of charities.
Charles has had two wives - Odesseus and Guenevere's mother (Schneizel is from another woman he was seeing at the time) who is now divorced and Euphie and Cornelia's mother, to whom Charles is still married. Schneizel and Lelouch and Nunnally were legitimized - something that indicates Charles's high social status.
So. In terms of power... think the Bush family rather than the Royal family. Actually more powerful with a lot of influence, but less famous. And not evil. Well. Not exactly evil.
BACK TO DRANGONPRINTS
The short-easy bits of complicated universes are SO MUCH FUN. And the best part is this is a fun place to play whenever you have writer's block in your other fics - just churn out a quick chappie!
They're Britannias. Insane is their middle name.
Date: 2011-05-22 12:47 am (UTC)...of course, Shiro went and got me rereading X/1999 stuff which isn't helping with writing of anything. XD;;
I know! Dammit Shiro!
Date: 2011-05-22 12:52 am (UTC)I am amazed, however, at how much stuck with me! I remembered pretty much every one of the dragons and the basic premise and most of the cameos and tie-ins with other CLAMP franchises.
But that's ANOTHER brilliant part of a Universe like Dragonprints where everything and anything can be an inspiration for another chapter! Especially now that you've set up the world and can play in it!
I linked her to Tokyo Babylon. Oops?
Date: 2011-05-22 12:58 am (UTC)The sad thing is I'm not much of a Sei/Subaru shipper which...very much limits what I can read since I can't take too much of it at once. XD;;
Yup! That's the awesome thing about little verses like this! I actually came to livejournal because of something similar (
So it's YOUR fault? :p
Date: 2011-05-22 01:05 am (UTC)Sei/Subaru is a secondary ship for me (although it's lovely) but my primary X/1999 ship is Kamui with either Fuuma or Kotori depending on how it's handled. Or Fuuma AND Kotori, since clearly incest isn't a deterrent for me. :p
I think it was when Fuuma became 'the other Kamui' that I started loving that ship - polar opposites by design is a thing for me. But looking back at their previous relationship... I ship that too. :p
But X/1999 is one of those universes where shipping is so not the point for me. The premise and the characters and the resolution are so much more important.
Also, I blame you. *Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame* XD
More or less?
Date: 2011-05-22 01:12 am (UTC)I am one of the few SubaruxKamui shippers. ^^;; However, my ot4 is SeiKamuiHokutoSubaru. Yeaaaaaaaaaah. My head is a weird place for me.
I find dark!Kamui semi-interesting. I don't find Fuuma interesting at all. I hide from most of the X-fandom because...well, I'm not mainstream at ALL.
I will read that crossover. And delight in it.
Date: 2011-05-22 01:23 am (UTC)SeiKamuiHokutoSubaru... yeah. The logistics for that would be complicated. But OMG PRETTY! Again, screw canon. :p And most of fandom. XD
Fuuma is a character that resonates a lot like Suzaku did for me - NOTHING at first, then I overthought him and now he's probably... my fifth favorite character overall. Oddly enough, a similar place that Suzaku holds. It may be my own mental fandom that made me love him, but I do. XD
It's not the epic one. It's the incubus one.
Date: 2011-05-22 01:38 am (UTC)Oooh, let's plan analogies! See, for me, SubaruSeishirou is a lot like SuzakuEuphie - the power is too much on one end. Which is why I don't really care for either pairing, but absolutely love with a third element that tends to rebalance things (Lelouch, Hokuto and/or Kamui).
....I just equated Seishirou with Euphemia. I'm going to go die in a corner here.
We have epic AUs where it would work! Except...note the 'epic' part.
I don't write small. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Oh. That one I'll just skip. I don't approve of incubi, you know ;)
Date: 2011-05-22 01:59 am (UTC)See, I see Sei/Subaru ('cause topping's clearly not in question in this ship) as more... Cornelia/Suzaku? Schneizel/Suzkau? It's not just a power differential (although, yes, liek whoa) but a superiority complex and mild sense of disdain where it's probably deserved. There's just something there that makes sure the pairing can't be equal without an outside influence. (Either a third party or MAGIC!)
(And that way, the purest Code Geass character isn't equated with the most sadistic X/TB character. And I can sleep at night. XD)
FuumaxKamui is kind of LelouchxSchneizel to me. It's a one-sided enmity and one-sided affection, as well as cool vs. passion; but subverted in that the which Schneizel and Fuuma are the cooler characters, Schneizel's the one with the one-sided affection and Fumma's the one who wants to fight while his counterpart would be happy just living together in peace. Lelouch and Kamui are similarly switched.
If I had to pick as 00 ship from X/1999, it would have to be the slightly creepy NeokixShiyuu pairing - friends on opposite sides who want to win, but don't particularly want to fight. And are maybe kind of in love, perhaps.
And Keiichi is both Shirley and Rivalz. XD
See, the fact that you wrote "I don't write small" is small font is ironic, but pointing it out ruins the joke. But it's a hilarious joke so I MUST KILL IT. XD XD XD
We need to look up a lot of stuff before we can even start writing the epic. Also, need a name.
Date: 2011-05-22 02:15 am (UTC)Though Dark Kamui is a lot more sexual in his harassment than Lelouch is of Schneizel.... XD;;
Joke: *is killed*
