May. 15th, 2009 06:21 pmHas anyone ever broken a watch face and got it fixed? (I.E. the glass on it) I turned too quickly and managed to SHATTER the glass on my square root watch. I'm really up set - I love that watch!
I hope I can just get the glass replaced....

Crystal Replacement
Date: 2009-05-15 10:33 pm (UTC)If the crystal (that's what the glass is called) is curved, shaped, thicker than normal, or has a painted rim, it could start getting pricey. Usually those need to be special ordered. However, if it's just a regular flat round crystal, it shouldn't be too big of a deal.
With the glass missing, you're going to want to put the watch someplace where dust/moisture can't get into it. Also, if the hands of your watch are catching on shards of glass or each other, you should consider pulling out the stem (as if you were going to set the time) as this will stop most watches and prevent internal damage as the hands try to move but are obstructed.
If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help. Good luck!

Date: 2009-05-16 12:23 am (UTC)I don't think it's special - the watch was only around 40 bucks, so I doubt they put anything special in it. I'll check around.
Thanks again!
