Bard Linn: Hello everyone! We hope you enjoyed this chapter. This one was a lot of fun to write.

Kiraya: We're finally in Midgar... and we've met a lot of people, too.

Bard Linn: I guess we should go chronologically, which would make the most sense, I suppose.

Kiraya: *nodnod*

Bard Linn: I really enjoyed writing about Cloud's entrance to Midgar. Tom, Dick and Harry were fun too. That scene is actually a little joke on the fandom. Did anyone get it?

Kiraya: ...oh, little details.

Bard Linn: And then there are Scott and Paul, whom Kiraya likes so much....

Kiraya: I do. When we were writing this chapter, they started running away with me. >..> Scottandpaul are fun, though.

Bard Linn: *snickers* I believe we've mentioned before every OC has a purpose. These two had the job of introducing how the SOLDIER program worked to Cloud. ..........But they will pop up again in the future, because they are fun. Even if Kiraya insists on saying them as one word.

Kiraya: They go together. You know, like... uhh...

Bard Linn: Like peanut butter and jelly? :3

Kiraya: Yes. I was going to say chocolate and raspberry, but some heathens disagree. Poor lost souls... anyway.

Bard Linn: Indeed. We should also mention that we share a concept with knowing_shadow's Fusion in here.

Kiraya: The "no female SOLDIERs" deal. No, wait, that’s Lunar. The body chemistry issue.

Bard Linn: Right. Anyway, it is mentioned in Fusion that Turks are pulled from SOLDIER candidates. Mind, that's not the only way they get to be members of the company, but it is an important one. Just one of those details Kiraya keeps straight or else I'd mess 'em up.

Kiraya: Mmm, details…

Bard Linn: But we do know both of these concepts appear elsewhere, just so you guys know. ^.^

Kiraya: And of course, we finally have the introduction of our most beloved Zack in this chapter.

Bard Linn: That we do! And at the same time, we manage to torment Cloud. Two for one deal.

Kiraya: As tame as this is compared to some of the other things we've done to him, I wouldn't ENTIRELY consider it torture...

Bard Linn: .....lugging a "drunken" first class around isn't torture at all. Nope. Course, compared to NEXT chapter.....I'd give you that. >D

Kiraya: ...I cannot wait for that. <3

Bard Linn: Neither can I. But before we start tormenting you guys too much, we do have an important announcement! Wayya has begun translating Butterfly Effect into French! Kiraya: We really appreciate it!

Bard Linn: So, can you think of anything else for this chapter?

Kiraya: No, I'd say that about wraps it up.

Bard Linn: So, exactly how are we introducing Sephiroth? Will Cloud find out exactly who he was lugging around? And how does Shinra food taste? All that and more next time. We'll see you in two weeks!

Kiraya: We'll bring pancakes.

I went straight for the gutter when Zack said "No, not there...."

Mmm. Happiness.

I like the OCs, they have a personality, and they are fun. Yay for Cloud's squad mates.

Pretend!Drunk!Zack. *grins* Oh, he is so much awesome it's not funny. Poor Cloud, you don't realized the attention you've brougth upon yourself.

Yay!

And Cloudtorture? Ooh. Why do you do this to me, with your taunting, teasing trails of love? Why?

^_^;;; You know, when the first two "NPCs" that showed up were Tom and Dick, I seriously stopped reading and skimmed a few paragraphs looking for the Harry, because it's that much of a standard-generic-name-joke. Any chance you might rename one of the two of 'em? 'Cause it just completely tossed me out of the story flow, and I'm not sure if I'd ever gotten back into it. (Almost as badly as the "Nurse Talia Alexander" did, actually, though I don't think I'd mentioned that one -- but not only were those names too identifiable, nobody would have really used her full name at that point in a conversation that way, and so that bit also really struck me as 'Exposition Hammer Strikes Again.' If you could work that type of stuff more into the background instead of the foreground, I think it'd be easier not to get pitched out of suspension-of-disbelief when reading.)

Obviously-Zack just happening to show up drunk the one time we 'see' Cloud out alone after hours also was tugging on the suspension-of-disbelief problem I'd been having after getting jolted by Tom, Dick, and AWOL-Harry. But it helped to find out that it was plotting-Zack as opposed to just-plot-device-Zack, if you see what I mean. ^_~ go-go-plotting-Zack!

Now I wonder what Vincent's up to in Nibelheim...

ChibiVincent (staring at the ceiling counting spiderwebs): ...eighty-six, eighty-seven, eighty-eight... eighty-nine... ninety... ninety-one... okay, that's at least six more than yesterday...

We're both rather upset it had that effect. Mind, those three were part of the jokes tied up in that section. Currently we're debating how to fix/if we are going to change it.

(Wish you had mentioned that earlier, though. I'll see if I can fix it though it's going to be harder because its already uploaded another place. Generally I post here first and do the rest in a couple of days for feedback purposes.)

We do try to keep the plot building gimmicks to minimum, though some DO happen. There's only so much we can control without getting any plot built. Though we manage to ignore that quite a bit. Plot, I mean.

Tom, Dick and Harry - a gag on the debate about Cloud's birthday (which apparently Squeenix went and changed).

Chocolate and raspberry is good! Particularly raspberry sauce (made from fresh or frozen raspberries) on chocolate mud cake with cream and/or ice-cream.

Good to Zack, and good to see him acting smart (by acting a fool).

I want raspberries, but all I have is a bag of mixed berries that Mum wants to make summer pudding out of (the one that's white bread with stewed berries in the middle) plus I need almond meal because I didn't look at the cake book when I proposed making mudcake according to the receipe that doesn't have a good spoonful of coffee in it.

Maybe I should look up some mudcake recipes online...

I've always been more than a little amused over the 11th or 19th debate. Obviously somebody in SE either has a handwriting problem or a handwriting-reading problem xD ... .... unless it was some miraculous typo that escaped detection. xP

It's great to see one fiction that has Cloud (seemingly) purposeful wandering around Midgar rather than being purely aimless lost wandering. ^.^ Vincent has done him good.

And I wholly support Plotting!Zack. His intelligence level seems to have increased. lol.

Go Cloud torture! can't wait for it.

Yo~! I read this last night but was tired and didn't comment, so I came back today and reread it. I would have agreed with what Chibirisu said earlier, but it seems a bit better now. I like plotting Zack. I like plotting Zack a whole hell of a lot better than drunk Zack, too. ^-^ Plotting!Zack is love. Also, cheers for your explanation of how people get into SOLDIER / the requirements and such. I've been playing with them for a bit now and have found they're an interesting little thing to mess with. XD Anyways, this chapter was love, and I'm looking forward to two weeks from now!

Loved Not-A-Pushover!Cloud. And Zack seems to agree on that. He's already set on everyone's favorite blond recruit. Go Zack!! I can't wait for when Seph'll see Cloud for the first time. *wiggles eyebrows suggestively*

It's not as much as I dislike Pushover!Cloud, it just annoys me that at times you can barely find anything else to read. And, yeah, he get on my nerves too after a while.

I mean, yeah, he's the emo-est, angsty-est, woe-is-me character in the game, but just because he's emo it doesn't mean he's a weak, pathetic, little crybaby! Look at Long Hard Road!Cloud, or Fusion!Cloud. Plenty of angst, and he's not a pushover. Not to mention Conflict Of Interests!Cloud Strife. Man, how I love AUs

What I'm trying to say, angst =/= being a pushover and most people forget that.

This chapter was great, too! I love how Cloud is using Vincent's lessons, like knowing his surroundings. That makes him more adult, in a way.

Ooooh....Zack. Wonderful, not-stupid Zack. It's so hard to find a good Zack in this fandom--usually they're idiots or, well, dead. I also really like the explanation for Cloud's bewildered birthdate--when in doubt, blame bad handwriting!
