The Inevitable

My grandfather (Dad’s side) has been living with Alzheimer's for several years now. Slightly over a week ago he suffered a major stroke which paralyzed his right side and robbed him of his sight.
Things have been pretty tense at home as a result. Dad’s been spending as much time as he can at the home the past week with Grandmom. Finally, however, the inevitable has occurred. He died around 6 this morning.
For most of us this is only a good thing. Pop Pop has been in a great deal of pain for years, and the damaged to his mind, he stopped being my grandfather long ago.
Rest in peace, Pop Pop. I hope you and Grandmere have fun up there.
