I just got a phone call from my best friend saying she’s back in state (went to California for x-mass w/ her boyfriend and celebrated New Years in Georgia with extended family) until Sunday, when she has to go back to D.C. to start filling out paperwork to go to Japan next semester. So she says to me that she’s booked all except for Saturday morning and would we like to get together then? Unfortunately I have to help my Grandmother move on Sat, so no can do. We managed to shuffle things around so I’ll get to see her a bit tomorrow night, even though another friend had “claimed” her for tomorrow.
I get off the phone and let Mom know what’s going on. She’s rather surprised that I got called last, as I am supposedly her best friend. I stop for a second and realize this is rather normal and am sadded. Basically, I feel unappreciated. Why can’t I get first pick ever?
Part of it is probably because I “live under a rock.” I’m an introvert and spend most of my time at home. One of her other friends is her neighbor, so it’s pretty easy them to be in touch. The one who “claimed” her for tomorrow we both met in high school, though she and I never got along as well as they did.
I will freely admit part of this is my fault. I’m not in contact as much as I should be. I’m very bad at keeping in touch. She fell out of anime and I didn’t. Our interests don’t match anymore and that’s helping us drift apart. We seem to snap right back together when we meet, but when we aren’t face to face or on the phone we’re distant. ;.;
*glomps friend’s list* I know I’m appreciated by some of yooooooooooooooou! Now, I shall go wrap presents and do other..stuff. Or something.
