We planned to go to see The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe today. And we did get there, eventually. But we took a bit of a round about trip to do it.

(The movie, by the way, was excellent in my humble opinion. I suspect there will be Narnia/HP crossovers in the near future on the net. I mean, the symbol is the LION. The deal with betrayal would be interesting considering some of the characters, though. Also ransacked my sister’s room – she doesn’t have ANY of her book series together! O.o – and found six of the seven books. Going to see if I can get through them this time.)

First, my mom and I went out for Mexican, as it tradition for after finals and we hadn’t gotten there yet. They we drove by the movie theater and found out the showing we had wanted was sold out. A bit surprised because it was Wednesday afternoon, we decided to hit the bank first then get some gas and a few other things.

So we got those done and were off driving to go find some place to stay for an hour or so – aka bookstore – when my car makes the STRANGEST noise. It stops and all of a sudden the battery light pops on. Then the engine thermometer goes right into the red.

In other words, my car broke down.

Still, as my mom put it, it was an A+ time to break down. It was sunny, reasonably warm, my cell phone was fully charged and she was with me. She called AAA for a tow truck and I went across the street to beg for a phonebook, got the number for the ice rink my sister and dad were at then called them. The people at the ice rink somehow managed to get a hold of Dad and he called us as we were driving to my Uncle’s garage in the tow truck. He swung by, picked us up, dropped us at home, we took the other car and then made it in time to the movie theaters to see the movie anyway. Seeing as we had already bough the tickets…

Turned out the wheel stop turning and shreaded the belt. So I'm carless for a while. Lucky I don't need it! Yet another good reason for this to happen now.

(The real funny thing is my Grandfather’s car broke when he was down here on Monday and they fixed it yesterday. My cousin’s car broke Monday down in Philly. Our family isn’t doing well this week. Thank goodness that we have a mechanic in the family!)

So I’ve learned what to do if you have a break down. I’ve also figured out a bunch of numbers I need to have with me in case it happens when my mom isn’t around or my cell phone isn’t charged and I can’t get to the address book! All in all, an emotionally charged day, but a good one. ^.^
