Cloud was having a happy normal day in Midgar Soldier Acadamy. She had lunch with her best friends Zack and Sephiroth, and completed her work for Professor Hojo. It was all going wonderfully, until she discovered swords in her locker - she had a terrible fear of them, and wondered who could do such a cruel thing.

'I bet it was Vincent,' said Zack. 'She's been jealous of you since she heard that you were going to the SOLDIER entrance exam with Aeris.' Cloud sighed.

'Did you read the Chocobo News?' said Sephiroth. 'There was an article about Marlene, who shocked everyone when She went on a date with Reno.'

'Really?' said Cloud. 'Can I read the article?'

Sephiroth gave it to her.

The Chocobo News has heard rumors that Marlene is back after the shock of many years ago when She went on a date with Reno. This is not true. Marlene is in Northern Crater.


Cloud scanned the article and was startled to discover that she and Marlene were alike - they both have really cool limit breaks.

Cloud walked home feeling very troubled. When she got home, there was a note on her doorstep. She opened in and screamed. It was full of swords. There was also a letter.

To Cloud. Watch your step. Ha ha ha. Signed, Marlene.

Who could it be? Was it really Marlene or someone closer to her? Cloud suspected everyone - Vincent of course, who always sneered at her. Aeris, even though he was the dreamiest boy in Midgar Soldier Acadamy. She even suspected Sephiroth who had a great love for swords and had been acting strangely recently. The only person she could trust was Zack who had been her friend since they were small children.

The night before the SOLDIER entrance exam, Cloud went with Zack to the ShinRa Headquarters, and they discovered it was empty. Cloud was pleased to have Zack with her, because she was very nervous about Marlene, as well as avoiding Aeris, Sephiroth, and Vincent. 'Isn't it strange,' said Zack. 'How much we have in common?'

Cloud remembered that they both have really cool limit breaks. She became uneasy. 'Zack, don't you have family in Northern Crater?'

Zack laughed manically. She threw some swords at Cloud, then attacked her with a SOLDIERS, and Cloud was forced to fight back with a Hojo's Lab. She ran away and was found by Aeris and Sephiroth, who had a perfectly rational explanation for her strange behaviour.

'We came to save you from Zack,' said Sephiroth.

The next day they discovered that Zack had died horribly. Cloud was sad - Zack had been her friend for years, and becoming a crazed psycho in the space of a few days could happen to anyone. But she placed her trauma firmly behind her and went to the SOLDIER entrance exam with Aeris, much to the dismay of Vincent.

Tifa was having a happy normal day in SOLDIER Academy. She had lunch with her best friends Aeris and Yuffie, and completed her work for Professor Gast. It was all going wonderfully, until she discovered materia in her locker - she had a terrible fear of them, and wondered who could do such a cruel thing.

'I bet it was Scarlet,' said Aeris. 'She's been jealous of you since she heard that you were going to the Blowing up the reactors with Cloud.' Tifa sighed.

'Did you read the Materia News?' said Yuffie. 'There was an article about Sephiroth, who shocked everyone when he went out with Cloud and Zack and made OT3 canon!.'

'Really?' said Tifa. 'Can I read the article?'

Yuffie gave it to her.
