Well, I was going to wait and post these once a day here but I can't wait.
What happens to the house when no ones home?
Title also from a song, which if you don't know you should be shot.
*pokes jounral and comm* where is everybody anyway?
Empty Chairs and Empty Tables
“…you really don’t have to do this, Second Lieutenant,” Sceszika protested as she unlocked the door using the hidden key.
“Nonsense,” Maria Ross replied firmly. “You can’t tackle this job by yourself and Winry is exhausted.”
“I saw Fury bring her home,” Sceszika sighed. “She didn’t leave Al’s beside for almost an entire day.” The door swung open. The sheer quietness was unnerveing. Sceszika didn’t think she had ever been in her with the house so quiet. But then again Ed usually was here. “The pets are usually this way. Can you handle the kitchen?” Ross nodded. The bookworm left.
Maria Ross wandered through the house. She hadn’t been here before so it took a bit of time to find the kitchen. The place was an almost oxymoron of organization and clutter. Books littered almost every surface but where clearly in specific places. Alphonse’s jacket lay on the back of the couch next to a pile of folded laundry. The coffee table in the living room had piles of documents decorating it.
She passed by the library entirely, feeling unworthy to penetrate that santuary. Maria spotted the dinning room next and found dishes set out for a breakfast that wouldn’t come anytime soon. She scooped them up and carried them into the kitchen. With a little bit of exploration she discovered where they belonged and returned them to their rightful place. Next the officer attacked the refregerator, removing anything that would go bad in the near future.
Then the officer quickly gathered up the trash from around the house and carried it out to the curb. She noticed Sceszika talking to several people down the street. They nodded and took the animals in the bookworm’s arms. “All that’s left is Hayate and Fury is going to take care of him.”
“Alright, let’s lock up then,” Ross replied. They carefully scanned the house. Finding everything in order they relocked the door and hid the key.
“They’ll be home soon,” Sceszika said firmly. “Then we can help them restock.”
Ross only hoped she was right.
