Ever have one of those days?
May. 24th, 2005 08:42 amSomedays I wonder what my parents are thinking, or in this case, not thinking.
Quite out of the blue on Sunday my dad suggested we go to Virgina to Bush Gardens. Now, we had purchesed season passes earlier in the year for the week we are spending down there in August. He suggested we go down Friday and stay till Sunday, activate our passes and have fun in the park. My mother like this idea. My sister and I thought they were joking.
Wrong.
Later that day mother had booked hotel rooms and they both started getting ready to take off from work. My sister and I went into shock. Normally when we plan things like this we discuss them weeks in advance as a family. This time it was "we're going. Now, you have to do this and this and this." My mother keeps going on about how practical this is and how she won't take a rest if she stays at home. (Which is hardly our fault.)
It isn't very practical.
First of all, we've had a lot of expenses this year. We just bought a new stove, one that has quite a bit more high tech gagets than the one that broke. We have to replace two doors. I have to get a car next year, which means more insurence (we live in NJ. -_-). I'm in college. My mother is in college (her courses cost as much as my entire semester. She's in private because of her special program.) We really don't have the money to just go running off.
Second, this is causing a TON of stress on my little sister (who calls herself Chibi Bard Linn, or CBL for short). She has a project that she's been working on for weeks due shortly after when we get back. Noramlly this wouldn't be a problem, but her partner keeps screwing the project over meaning they aren't as far along as they need to be. She also has a concert this thursday, right before the trip. She was selected to play in the 7th and 8th grade band as well as her her own, the 6th grade band, but she only recently got the music and it is rather challenging. So she really should be practicing that as much as she can (and wants to practice) but can't because she has to spend every free minute on the blasted project. So she's having mental mental break downs left and right (far more than even normal for her age)but my parents are like "this is such a great idea!" and brushing off what it is causing my sister to feel as "normal" for her age.
*sends love to CBL*
Finally, I don't want to go. This friday was my last day to write, becuase you can get nothing done while the parents are around (more specifically, my mother. Rie do this, Rie do that. Honestly, I feel like I'm Cinderella when I'm out of school.) Sat, sun, Mon my parents are home, and Tuesday I go back to school for Physics. We're going right after Otakon, so its not like I'm not going this year or anything. I want my computer. T_T *will probably end up taking paper with her*
And now I'm going to go to sleep and try and get better before someone (naming no names) fries me. *walks off mumbling how she wants to write.

Date: 2005-05-24 01:29 pm (UTC)Awww, geez. I really hate it when my plans get screwed up like that... Free time is too precious to be suddenly taken away, and I'm sure your sis doesn't need that stress!
(You want to eat the sausage combo meal at the Fest Haust while you are there. It is good. I wish I could go with you. Been too long since I was at Williamsburg and Busch Gardens.)

Date: 2005-05-24 01:40 pm (UTC)My heart goes out to CBL...really, that's a horrible amount of stress to be put on someone her age. Any chance you can talk the folks into leaving you and your sister at home while they go gallavanting? It seems more logical that way because they're the ones that are wanting to get away and seem to have no pressing matters at hand.
*huggles Linn* X3 Know all about what you mean about writing too...>.>;;; So hard to find free time anymore...

Date: 2005-05-24 02:02 pm (UTC)Yeah, she's the one I'm most worried about. And my parents don't seem to be listening. If I try, they'll get all guilty and "our kids don't want to do anything with us any more!!!" and stuff.
And I can't write with my head pounding.
Personally, I'd rather go see SW again.

Date: 2005-05-24 02:08 pm (UTC)(Oddly enough, I am going to be on the East Coast from June 16/17 til maybe even the 25th or 26th. Got a wedding and then my parents are going to my Uncle's beach house. It's been too long since I've seen the ocean. I must go.)

I hope they see the reason. *wishes your sister luck* And the guilt trip trick is so cheap.
It's hard to write when you aren't feeling well. *nods sadly* T_T

Date: 2005-05-25 01:18 am (UTC)In other news, wish I'd known you were in Jersey ~ I was just there this past weekend! XD (New Yorker, btw)
Anyways, try to have fun at Busch Gardens (beats the heck outta spending all your time at the historical site, trust me; if my family went more often than it did I'd have to either kill myself or grab a costume and join the 17th century.). Ride the Loch Ness Monster ~ that coaster = freaking awesome!! ^_^
