Bard Linn: Hello, dear readers, and welcome to BE26! Early posting because Kiraya has to run out before usual posting time tonight.

Kiraya: It feels like it's been forever since last time we updated...

Bard Linn: It does.

Bard Linn: All I have to say is three more weeks of student teaching and then I get to write again!!!!

Kiraya: Which is good, because we're starting to fall behind a bit.

Kiraya: At least as far as BE goes. >..>

Kiraya: Not that I'm helping. ^..^;;;

Bard Linn: *cough*Genderswitch distraction*cough*

Bard Linn: But if it wasn't so fun....*sigh* I love how we /only write epics/ together.

Bard Linn: Let's see now, this is the *counts* third FFVII epic we will /have/ to write at some point? Plus the mini-FFX epic?

Kiraya: Sounds about right.

Bard Linn: "And once they started writing, they continued just because this is the hobby that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends..."

Kiraya: Better than some hobbies. :P

Kiraya: Cheaper, too.

Kiraya: I spend less money on writing fanfic than I ever did on Yuugiou cards. >..>

Bard Linn: *laughs* Truth there.

Bard Linn: Shall we discuss 26?

Kiraya: ...That IS what we're supposed to be doing, isn't it? Whoops.

Bard Linn: Yeah.

Bard Linn: Anyway, for those of you who were expecting Great Disaster During The Escape...sorry.

Bard Linn: Things don't /always/ go cataclismically wrong.

Bard Linn: Huge Big Problems are still a while off.

Kiraya: Oh, indeed. Things'll boil over eventually...

Bard Linn: But its hardly realistic that everything would go wrong at once. We tried a bit of a compromise with them getting caught by Matheson, though.

Kiraya: *nod*

Bard Linn: A bit of Cloud-and-Vin working together this chapter, which is nice. Also, Aeris-with-a-backbone, also nice.

Kiraya: I'm growing more and more attached to her.

Kiraya: Kinda funny, considering how I really didn't care about her back when I was playing the game...

Kiraya: Then again, they all grow on you after a while.

Bard Linn: I could make the "like fungus" comment but I'll refrain.

Kiraya: ...ew. :P

Bard Linn: Though honestly my favorite part of this chapter is the Hojo monologue at the end. Look, he's here! On screen!

Kiraya: It was kinda creepy, actually.

Kiraya: Right after she first wrote this scene, he /wouldn't go away/.

Bard Linn: We locked him up in the closet. In a safe. With lots of chains and padlocks.

Kiraya: We'll have to let him out in the future, of course...

Kiraya: But having him around too much is a bit of a scary influence.

Bard Linn: Especially when he shows up in everyday speaking.

Kiraya: *nodnod*

Bard Linn: A note on that monologue though...

Kiraya: The Mako scores jump thing.

Bard Linn: Yeah.

Kiraya: What was it Zack said last chapter?

Bard Linn: Cloud's got a natural apptitude for them (not surprising, considering his background).

Bard Linn: Uh....

Bard Linn: *looks for quote*

Bard Linn: "And while it’s rarer, changes in Mako results do happen, though none of the Mako sciences guys at the university, or anyone up there—” Zack jerked his head in the general direction of the ShinRa building, and presumably the labs “—has figured out why yet.”"

Kiraya: "Some go through pretty rough periods, and that drags ‘em down a lot. On the other hand, some grow more comfortable with themselves, and are actually more stable because of that."

Bard Linn: So the first time Cloud went through the exams he was somewhat upset and a little emotionally a bit unstable. He was hiding his abilities and pretty much friendless.

Bard Linn: Now he's a stronger individual, accepting himself and his skills. He's trained with the best and he has Vincent back in his life. Needless to say, he feels better about his abilities.

Kiraya: Having some more friends around who he can confide in helps, too. :)

Bard Linn: Very much so. Part of the reasons for the OCs, guys - Cloud /has/ to talk to people besides those in game in a military setting.

Bard Linn: And we do try to make the OCs not annoying or anything. They're mostly plot devices.

Kiraya: Granted, some of them haven't served their purpose yet, but they will.

Bard Linn: And then they hang around some. Scott'n'Paul, for example were supposed to introduce the SOLDIER setup to Cloud. That was it.

Bard Linn: ...they didn't leave, though. XD

Kiraya: Oops?

Bard Linn: But anyway...I don't think there is anything else.

Kiraya: No, I think we're good.

Bard Linn: Except if you hear loud crashing noises, those are probably hints.

Kiraya: *innocent look* Hmmm?

Bard Linn: *laughs* Well, we'll see you in May. And by then, I'll be done student teaching!

Kiraya: Finally!

Bard Linn: Until then, dear readers. :)
