So what's been happening in life lately?
May. 3rd, 2009 07:54 pmI GOT MY CONTRACT FOR NEXT YEAR.
This is SUCH a relief! Dad is a little annoyed though because I'm making almost 80% of his base salary - and he's been working 20+ years and has a doctorate while I have my BA - ah, the benefits of public school vs. private school!
In the fandom front, CLAMP has been sucking me into more of their series. *hangs head* I got Wish, RG Veda and Rayearth I and II from Ebay at awesome prices (I got both anime and manga for Rayearth plus a homemade Mokona THAT IS THE ADORABLE.) I also used my awesome Ebay powers to purchase various presents for
kiraya for Birthday (October) and Christmas. I obtained from another website
musicshoes' birthday present (December) as well. I will now remind them about this every so often to drive them absolutely bonkers.
[By the way - those of you who don't know her, Music Shoes is my sister. Her new online nickname is Claire. Short for Clarinet, which she is THE BOMB at. Seriously. ]
...and I sort of caved and bought an entire set of Clamp no Kiseki on Ebay in Japanese with Kero and Suppie pieces for too much money. I justify this by using my tax refund on it. I'M STIMULATING THE ECONOMY, PEOPLE. Now just to keep an eye out for English versions of the books - I'm annoyed at myself for not buying that one complete set I saw a while back.
Now I need: Rayearth, Wish, RG Veda, CCD, and Man of Many Faces icons. GAH. Oh, and Princess Tutu, which I'm watching through Netflix and TOTALLY loving.
Almost getting to the end of School. We're in the fourth marking period, huzzah! I'm looking forward to the summer. I might have a cat sitting job from July 1st through July 8th, which would be great and I often dogsit for the family down the street. I may also put out my hat as a tutor for the summer....if Mom can do it, why not I? Especially since I'm MATH and AWESOME like that.
I'm glad it has cooled down. Last week was WAY too hot for late April. It could stay like this until exams are over in my humble opinion.
Well, I should get back to cleaning. I've been wiped and totally not productive, so I should be a bit before going back to work tomorrow.

Date: 2009-05-04 12:05 am (UTC)Ah, yes. A feeling I know well... *pokes Fatal Frame* I tend to be the last one to every party, but hey--sometimes it just takes one really good fanwork to breathe new life into an old fandom!

Date: 2009-05-04 12:16 am (UTC)I know. The only problem if I have to finish my FF7 one first before I /seriously/ start some of my Clamp stuff, since they bode to be long drawn out AUs of awesome.

Date: 2009-05-04 05:33 pm (UTC)...even if the fandom is dead, you can at least squee with Kiraya (or even convert her XD)

Date: 2009-05-05 05:09 am (UTC)Like yourself, I am currently cat sitting (go the wireless broadband!) in a gorgeous house with a rather delighful feline. Kitty cat cuddles on tap, a ten minute commute to work, and easy access to all my online learning modules; life's good. Hopefully your stint at it will have similar perks - enjoy it!
I look forward to reading more of your fic works, as and when you and kiraya choose to continue them.
Nik.

Date: 2009-05-07 12:39 am (UTC)Hopefully I'll have enough energy/enough time/enough privacy (I find it hard to write when people are bouncing around the house a lot...) to get some writing done soon.
