Plot Arc: When Worlds Collide
Summary: Sometimes the only one who understands.....is yourself

Ed sat back in his seat and slowly stretched. Spending hours pouring over books had left him exhausted and stiff. His counter part made a hushing motion. Two sets of gold eyes glanced over at Hoju. The Envy look a like was fast asleep. The other Ed jerked his head. The first blond nodded, and they padded quietly out of the room.

"He's exhausted."

"No surprise there, considering the day he's had."

The pair sat down on the comfortable couch just outside of the research room they were using. "This is a strange situation, even for us."

"It is that," Ed sat back. His eyes went distant. "You
know, if he really IS us, he still has a long way to
go."

"A lot more to learn." The pair sat in silence for a long moment, both remembering things from quite some time ago, things they knew that no one else alive did. "Sometimes I think that's part of the reason Al feels cut off from me," Ed spoke softly. "He doesn't remember...."

"But some things he never knew," the other finished. Where the power of their alchemy came from, for one thing. "It’s been easier in some ways for me. I think the physical intimacy helps overcome it."

His mirror image flushed a deep crimson. "I STILL can’t comprehend that. With ANY of them."

A happy smile flitted across Ed's face. "You'll find they can be very good friends, if nothing else. And I think you should get to know your Roy better. He understands a lot more than you think."

"He's not my Mustang," Edward muttered, still flushed.

"He still understands quite a bit. He could be as good of a friend as Masuta is."

"Maybe," the other replied. He yawned. "Still, there are some things no one else can understand." Ed smiled in comprehension. Both of their eyes remained dark, remembering past burdens and pains. Eventually, they drifted back to the present. "What do you think we should tell Hoju?"

"I don't know. Having too much information got us into this mess. If Father hadn't left those books lying around..."

"Yeah," gold eyes fluttered, fighting to stay open. "Talk about this is the morning?"

The other didn't respond. He was already fast asleep.

The next morning, there was an annoyed Mustang on the prowl. "Where IS he?"

"Where is who, sir?" Hawkeye asked.

"Ed!" Roy snapped. "He didn't come to bed last night, and I want to know why!"

Hawkeye flushed, realizing that this WASN'T her commanding officer. Exactly. "They were in the library last night...."

Roy stalked his way out of the office and down to the library. A few minutes later, he found both Edwards curled up on the sofa together. With a flash of pain, he wished he had a camera.
