HoS: Sun: Healing Light
Today is
jade_pen’s birthday. Happy birthday Jade! *zen hugs* So I thought I’d write him a little Roy/Al drabble, set in HoS.
Title: Healing Light
Archive: Sun Archive
Summary: Roy finds a different source of light.
Chronology: WAY before Sunset.
Warnings: much fluff.
Healing Light
The house seemed oddly quiet without Edward’s presence. Roy sighed, walked quietly through the house. This certainly wasn’t the first mission Ed had gone on since the five had come together nor would it be the last, but it always left him feeling insecure. Roy laughed bitterly in his mind. He knew what the others would think if they realized how much he depended on Edward as a crutch for his sanity. Especially on days like today, when reminders of Ishbar were all too numerous.
The house felt dark without Ed.
Roy’s feet led him to the library. He gazed around the sanctuary. Al was the only one there. Bronze eyes looked up at the sound of footsteps. “Roy!” A smile spread across the youth’s face. “Here, take a seat.”
Roy sat down next to his youngest lover. He noticed the item in Alphonse’s lap. “Pictures?”
“Yes. It’s nice sometimes, just to think about the past.”
Roy looked over at the photo album. They were all from the time Alphonse had been in the armor. “Do you still wish you could remember?”
“Some days,” Al admitted. “I used to want to remember more than anything else but then I realized all of the pain Niisan has from those memories. I don’t like to admit it, but some days I’m glad I don’t remember.”
“There’s nothing wrong with wishing to forget,” Roy replied. His mind flashed back to the many things he wished he could forget. The war. Edward’s crippled form right after the human transmutation. His near helplessness in the brothers’ quest. His fear facing down Pride. The terrible sorrow that had descended after Edward had disappeared.
“I think what I want the most,” Al whispered, “is to be able to take your memories. It’s not fair that I’m the only one who gets to forget.”
The tears that appeared in Roy’s eyes completely surprised him. He bent his head and gave Al a light kiss.
Suddenly things seemed a lot brighter.
