Sound effects are good fun, but it is a major pain to always turn back and read them at the end of the book.
Exactly! Especially if there aren't many page numbers and the sound effects are ordered by page. Just reading them is easier... although I still make many mistakes. But I'm getting there.
Thank you for the tips! I've been wanting to learn Japanese for ages now, what with my addiction to anime and all, but never really found the time. ^^;; I'm also practicing with various openings and endings of anime series. If someone's singing, they often show the english translation, the phonetic transcription and the Japanese symbols for the lyrics, which lets me practise a bit and immediately check that I got everything right. It's just annoying having to pause all the time because I can't read that quickly yet, and there are always kanji mixed in that I have no clue about.
