Summary: Ed wakes up.
Right after Midnight Terror
Revealing Truths
Edward came back to himself with a snap so sudden that it was almost painful. He gasped for breath, clutching his chest.
“Ed!”
“Edward!”
The alchemist heard his two lovers’ cries of fear and worry, but he had no time to assure them of his wellbeing. He focused on his breathing, on staying in the here and now. He COULDN’T drift off again. To do so would mean death. Finally, he felt his soul firmly settle down. He opened his eyes to two identically worried faces. “Roy, Ichiro – ”
Edward didn’t get another word out. He found himself enfolded in Roy’s arms. “What happened?”
The blond closed his eyes and forced his thoughts into coherency. “You know Envy killed me down in Dante’s headquarters. You know Al brought me back.” He clenched the automail hand. “When he vanished, I offered up my life in exchange. I ended up here.”
“I’m not sure, but I think that the energy used to re-anchor my soul was partially used to restore Al.” Ed paused. “As a result my soul isn’t as attached as it should be. It goes for walks sometimes.”
Roy looked more than a little skeptical. “Ed, the soul –”
“I know it’s a weird idea,” Ed sighed leaning back against his lover. “But that’s what’s been happening. I’ve been wandering inside of the Gate – ”
“Inside the Gate, are you insane?” Roy snapped. Masuta nodded in agreement.
“Not like I went in there on purpose!” Ed retorted. “But anyway, this is what happened…” The blond related his confrontation with Greed and the events with Nina.
“I probably don’t want to know, but how did you do that, Edward?” Masuta asked.
Ed grimaced. “I think I used more of the energy anchoring my soul.”
“That…isn’t good.” Masuta replied slowly.
“I know.” Ed sighed. “I think we’re going to need some help.”

Love it ^__^ Am very intrigued with the explaination for why Ed's soul keeps visiting the Gate, although Masuta is right... it can't be good O_o;
